School Days: Black History Month: Harlem Renaissance Comes to the Albemarle
Immersive activities and performances will engage students in the literacy, artistic, and intellectual movement--sparked by the end of World War I and the Great Migration--that kindled a new black cultural identity. After Atumpan - The Talking Drums performs The Happening Harlem Renaissance, Douglas Jackson, assistant professor of visual and performing arts, Elizabeth City State University, will present Sounds of the Harlem Renaissance...Music, Arts, and Culture.
